Scope

Electrical and instrumentation works at the Port of Bilbao mineralisation plant, which turns ash, slag and captured CO₂ into eco-aggregates for construction.

We have completed the electrical and instrumentation works at the Port of Bilbao mineralisation plant, the first facility of its kind in the European Union, promoted by Petronor and O.C.O Technology.

A particularly interesting project because of its link with the circular economy and waste recovery: the plant turns ash and slag, together with captured CO₂, into eco-aggregates for concrete, precast products and infrastructure. Waste that currently ends up in landfill becomes new construction material.

Our contribution

  • Electrical installation of the plant
  • Installation of instrumentation and process control
  • Testing and commissioning of the installation

The plant in figures (annual impact)

  • Reuse of 50,000 tonnes of thermal ash from waste
  • Capture of up to 6,000 tonnes of CO₂
  • Production of up to 125,000 tonnes of eco-aggregates
  • Preservation of up to 170,000 tonnes of natural aggregates
