- 2Siemens SIVACON S8 MCCs, rated 1,250 and 800 A
- 11process motors, from 18.5 to 75 kW
- 4spare starters fitted and ready to use
- 4–20 mAcurrent of each motor sent to the DCS
Two MCCs for condensate transfer
For the condensate improvement project in evaporation areas VE#1 and VE#3 of the Lontar Papyrus Pulp & Paper Industry (LPPPI) mill, MIESA supplied Veolia (HPD) with two SIVACON S8 motor control centres, at 400 V AC and 50 Hz, with three phases, neutral and protective earth:
VE#1 area MCC
- 1,250 A incomer
- Three sections: 2,600 × 2,200 × 500 mm
- Seven process motors (360.5 kW rated)
- Four spare starters fitted and two free spaces
VE#3 area MCC
- 800 A incomer
- Two sections: 1,600 × 2,200 × 500 mm
- Four process motors (193.5 kW rated)
- Three free spaces
Each MCC has a withdrawable four-pole Siemens 3WA main circuit breaker, with overload, short-circuit, neutral and earth-fault protection, opening and closing control and a local/remote selector, and a SENTRON PAC power meter with class 0.5 current transformers. The single-line diagram indicates a short-circuit value of 65 kA.

Withdrawable starters and control from the DCS
The motors are started direct-on-line, with SIRIUS motor protection circuit breakers or 3VA2 moulded-case circuit breakers with electronic protection and SIRIUS contactors, in withdrawable units with position contacts and a local ammeter.
Each starter is hard-wired to the plant DCS: it receives the start/stop command, returns the running, tripped and ready states, and sends the motor current as 4–20 mA through transducers. On the front, local indication, a lamp test and a test key make operation and maintenance easier.

Electrical studies and technical dossier
The studies for both MCCs, carried out with Siemens SIMARIS design, include short-circuit calculations, selectivity, starter coordination, protection settings and an arc flash section. The VE#1 study was updated in October 2023 with the final settings of the incoming circuit breakers.
The handover dossier includes electrical and dimensional drawings, manuals, certificates of conformity —the one for the VE#1 MCC declares manufacture to IEC 61439-1—, test protocols, inspection and test plans and instructions for transport, storage and spare parts.
On-site assistance
MIESA also provided assistance in Jambi: electrical, instrumentation and control supervision, inspection of both MCCs, energisation and testing. The final drawings were revised after commissioning, in August 2023.
More SIVACON projects
MIESA has built SIVACON S8 and S4 switchboards for industry, energy and water in five countries.
