Main LV switchboards, MCCs and distribution for the new plant
The eight main low-voltage switchboards were built with Siemens SIVACON S4; the emergency ones are motorised:
- Two 4,000 A main switchboards
- Four 3,200 A main switchboards
- One 1,600 A and one 800 A main switchboard
All of them operate at 400 V AC, with IP31, L1, L2, L3, N and PE busbars, and a rated short-time withstand current (Icw, what the busbar withstands for one second) of 35 to 50 kA.
The installation is completed by five switchboards associated with the transformer substations, rated 3,200 and 4,000 A, and SIVACON S4 distribution boards from 300 to 1,600 A for production, the roof, the changing rooms, HVAC and the uninterruptible power supply systems. The MCCs and part of the distribution use eight SIVACON S8 assemblies, with IP30 and a single-front configuration.
Communications and testing
The circuit breakers include protection, metering and communications to send the status and measurements of each outgoing feeder to the supervision system; that is why the planned FAT covered signals and communications as well as the cubicles. Commissioning included electrical, mechanical and communication tests. Unloading and positioning of the switchboards on site were carried out by third parties.

Other MIESA projects at Faes Farma
At Faes Farma, MIESA also developed the plant’s control system with Siemens PCS 7 and the environmental monitoring system (EMS) for cleanrooms, laboratories and technical facilities with Siemens Desigo CC.
