- 2twin pumping stations
- SINAUTsatellite telecontrol
- TIA PortalPLC, HMI and SCADA
Our team developed the complete programming of the raw water pumping plants that supply the city of Bulawayo, from process control to remote supervision. The system covers two twin in-line pumping stations, supervised from a SCADA in the control centre at the final water treatment plant.
The challenge
- Robust control of each pumping line
- Pump protection through the instrumentation
- Risk prevention through active communication between the plants
- A centralised control system accessible by remote control
The solution
Autonomous pumping lines
- Automatic start and stop of each line
- Safeguards that always protect the pumps
- Pump rotation to extend their service life
WiFi communication with the tanks
- Tank signals transmitted over WiFi because of the distance between sites
- Distributed remote modules without cabling
- Savings in civil works and cabling
Satellite telecontrol
- Active communication between the plants to prevent losses and failures
- Remote monitoring and control from the control centre
- Real-time pumping data

Our contribution
We developed the complete control logic, PLC programming, HMI and SCADA screen design and the configuration of the telecontrol communications, with Siemens TIA Portal and SINAUT, adapted to the requirements of the plants.
Results
- Programming adapted to the client’s operating needs
- Clear, real-time supervision through HMI and SCADA
- Fewer operating risks and losses thanks to communications between the plants
- More autonomous, safer plants with tracking of pumping data
